Controller question!!

Post by littlemal »

Ok i have the regualr PSone controller and i think it has that rubbery membrane to push the buttons on the PC board. So can i solder a wire directly on to the metal plates where the rubbery stuff presses and then connect the other end of the wire to a tact button?

So you mean take the whole board off and solder a tact switch to the cable that plugs into the Psone? :?:

I think you guys are talking about two entirely different controllers here. littlemal is talking about one of the older dual shocks, where there is no "rubber membrane board" and instead just one solid board. Er..no, two seperate boards.. the analog sticks are on a smaller one.

The one you're talking about, toby dawg, is a slightly newer dual shock, which has that "rubber membrane board", as you said, which is the same sort of board that's in just about every modern computer keyboard. It was a way to cheapify production costs.

I'm talking about the normal psone controller that comes with the psone system. What do you guys mean when you say "rubber membrane board"??
I mean when you press the buttons on the controller it pushes a grey rubber thing inside the controller, and under the rubber things are metalic circles that are directly on the PCB.

how many boards are inside your controller?

don't you need the board that has the X, square, triangle, circle, start and select buttons too.
