actually i gained most of my electrical knowledge through working on my electric guitar.
How to solder, the point of certain components, how to read a schematic...
I play a variety of styles, learn the blues pentatonic scale first for its variety of styleistic applications and work from there...
Also, get a good book... trust me it helps
