I have Windows XP Pro, and Dos 5.0 on a different computer, and I get to the menu where it says
Run In Safe Mode
Run In Safe Mode with Networking
Run In Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Known Good Configruation
Start Windows Normally
Selecting any just restarts the computer, Windows XP is still installed, and using one of my Boot Disks I typed R:\SETUP.exe (R is Disk Drive) with my Windows XP CD in, and it said Program cannot be run in DOS Mode. I also have a DOS 5.0 Bootdisk off www.bootdisk.com. It would be preferrable also if I could keep all my files without losing them, and an installation of Dos 6.22 would be good (as that's muccch better than 5.0)

You have one option that I know will work. Take your install CD and boot it and go into "Rescue Mode", from there you can reinstall files you lost. Simalar to the one above is if you know someone that has an XP system, made a NT boot disk.
If you find that you can not repair the problem from there, take a live CD like Knoppix, and boot it. From there backup your files. You might want to try and use Knoppix to fix the files, but it's at your own risk. NTFS write ability is still sketchy to my knowlege.
