seriously, why would anybody want to do this?
now i am a big nintendo fan, but in no ways a fan boy i have a sega genesis, and dreamcast and game gear , a PS1, and i am getting a ps2 very soon (tommorw if i win and Ebay auction!) and all nintendo, and i to have an atari VCS, with 25 games. i was wondering though- who would put the effort in to making a portable this old? im working on a NESp, which is also very old, but NES games have storyline, atari games really dont have any storyline (with the exception of the game adventure) maybe its just me, but i would like to see a point in really doing a portable VCS. (no offense, just wonderin')
it's a nostalgia thing. the atari was video games for a long time. remember their are kids out there who look at the nes and go "what a piece of junk; what kind of game only needs two buttons."
A gun rack... a gun rack. I don't even own *a* gun, let alone many guns that would necessitate an entire rack. What am I gonna do... with a gun rack?
There are just somethings about the Atari others like, me personally there are a handful of games I loved when ever I got a chance to play one. It's the same for any other system. You're making an NESp because you liked the games it had and want to have them on the go without porting or running emulators. The same goes for the Atari 2600.
And besides Ben's the best example of this whole thing. He grow up with it, and he even still has an Atari 800 computer. He wouldn't have made the first VCSp or the the Atari 800 Laptop if he didn't want to get ahold of the games again, well and program in BASIC.

I am a geek.
I grew up in a place where all the kids had N64s, PSOnes, and some PS2s, but the only games we could could afford were the used 2-D ones. I grew up around the 2600, NES, SNES, and Genesis, and they remain my favorie systems. I loved the games, and a lot of others due too, so our mission is to breathe a new life into our favorite games... Well, mine is...
God Bless Hot Glue
The SNES ws my favorite system....mine broke, but i found the world of emulation to satisfy my needs! Who can't forget Zelda and Smash TV for the SNES! Those were great games! But i grew up in the age of the N64, i had one with like 50 games, then i sold it.......i made a huge mistake! But once again, emulation.

As they all said, it all depends on the era you grew up in. I began getting interested in video games at the tail end of the NES dynasty, so of couse, my first system was the SNES. I grew up with the SNES, and in my opinion, it is the greatest game console; that's why I portablize it. If I were more like Ben, however, growing up in the late 70s when the Atari was in it's prime, I would obviously want to portablize it to bring back those memories.
I do understand your point, however. Being an RPG junkie, I really don't enjoy the Atari; I respect it, but I don't enjoy it. The NES has some very good, story driven games, (DQIII, LoZ, MG) but is nowhere close to the SNES in it's proficiency to project complex storylines through an entertaining medium.

I'll have to agree with Chrono, I myself am a big snes fan...its the first system I grew up on. I thought the system was amazing and it still isCronoTriggerfan wrote:As they all said, it all depends on the era you grew up in. Mink, we are in the same boat
! Only for me the SNES is my first portie, and I'm almost done. I even modeled the frankenmod layout off of minktendo and Turbo's NESp, only I used a mini SNES case; I'll post pics as soon as Aktafighter fixes a few minor glitches for me
.
PS- Does your love of SNES give us insight on what your newest portable may be? Because that would be uber cool

It really is how you grew up with games.
To put it plainly, there are some NES games (Megaman 2) that I'd rather play then any of the new stuff they're putting out.
Appreciate games for what they are. Gameplay. Atari was fun, and it brings back those memories. NES and SNES too, but Making an atari portable is all about returning to those days as a kid trying to beat those classic games.
