Video problems

Post by bioniclebert »

I modded another 4 switch atari into the 4 inch square. I used ben's OLD video mod, and it doesnt work. Then when I test my other atari (the portable one) It has the exact same problem.

What happens?

Well I turn it on. After about 5 seconds, I get a black and white scrolling image. I press the RESET button, an the the video goes way. (the audio plays however. a note: I'm testing 1 unit with Pac-man and the other with wizard of war. So after the game of wizard of wor, the video starts scrolling again, only this time, Its orange and green.

What I did:
I reconnected the connections to the board.
I tried yet another atari.
I Did not try another TV.
I did not try the New video mod.

I would give that a try, especially if it's a newer tv (the signal given in Ben's old mod is not exactly a perfect one, and newer tv's are pretty fussy)

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

bioniclebert: For some reason, I get the same thing when I plug my NES into the AVin of my portable dvd player. My gamecube doesn't have this problem. And my NES AVout work well when plugged in a regular TV.

My Atari does not work on a TV, But it used to. I'm wondering if the new video mod would fix this?

Just wanted to post my situation.

I got the video working. If anyone gets this problem, check this wire here:

But now, the controller dosent work. Here's the dealie.

I have the controller wired up using a NES pad. I'm only using 1 ground connection to the board, and the start and select buttons worked for select and RESET, So It's not the ground wire. None of the other buttons work at all. Up, down, left, and right do nothing. I've also tested this with other games. What the heck is wrong with my Ataris!?? (This problem is happening on TWO of my ataris, and one of them still has video problems.)
