where can i get one? i see that many people are using the hipgear controllers which i can get at bestbuy.... is that a good idea? and batteries, which ones, sorry i am a complete noob.

yeah as i have said in another post im trying to get his book and will get it soon.but it is expensive.im poor.

Mind you, the chunky old school snes isn't the one used in the book. If you're a total n00b you might want to look into the 1997 revision 'mini snes'.

Where to get the SNES - Ebay (best place), other online stores (like vintagefunworld.com) or if you're lucky a garage sale.
Hip Gear Screens are a good choice if you want or only have access to a small screen, biggers always better.
For batteries look to get a 7.2v (volt) RC battery, or you can use recharables set in a series of 6 (AA recomended, use Ni-MH).

yeah buying a mini is probably the best way to go, or you could always just research up on the original snes board and hack that...

PS- If you are getting ben's book, most of the measurements/instructions are all in English system... Just make sure you change in all to metric (or canada can just be cool for once and use the english system

)

There is really no difference between the way the SNES works and the Mini SNES, the key difference is that the Mini is a little slimer. You can get close to the Mini SNES size by cutting off the grounding on the side of the board.

As for converting Standard to Metric... Use google or some online converter, they're not hard to find. And CronoTriggerfan, we're the ones that should change everything (cars, planes, military, ect) use metric.

I have allways wondered this but did they release the 1997 revision snes in the u.k and if so is it the same as the u.s.a version. Or if i did so happen to buy a U.S version is there a way to bypass the lock-out chip.

thanks guys, iot seems those mini one are a lot more expensive. Hmm, i wish i could jus tfind one without games. I would be happier to buy one at a used video game store.

Ask around, too. I was going to buy one from Ebay for around 60 bucks, but I asked around school. Sure enough, 3 of my friends owned one! One was willing to part with his (he had 2) for free along with a controller and street fighter. I felt kinda bad not paying, so as payment I fixed his "broken" SNES (dirty cart connector).

yeah i know about all my friends and none of them have one. My friend has an old one but he's not willing to give it up.

I think my best bet is ebay... sadly, but i do love ebay.

I got a mini yesterday for 20 with 9 games 2 controllers and all cables! I got the power rangers game it is AWESOME
