Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Original Idea for portable

Post by Neildo_64 »

Im currently working on a portable n64 and uh...I was just curious as to how many of you think it would be "nifty" to have a built-in rumble pack, BUT the motor from it was removed and replaced with a light circuit to make lights (LED's or a couple small cathode tubes) flash instead of making the motor rumble.

Sound original? I hope so because I'm really trying to steer away from the "What-has-been-done-before" ideas and I thought it sounded fun.

Picture this - Your playing Goldeneye or Quake and everytime you shoot, your portable flashes....ooooo :o ....wow. Or playing MarioKart and when you hit a wall, your n64 lights up....ahhh :o ...neato....

Anyway, question number A -- Has this been done before?
And question letter 2 -- Does it sound cool 8) or just stupid?

It's been done before, but I don't know if it's been done for an N64p.

It's cool, but if the lights are too bright, it gets freeeegin annoying.

Yeah, if I did it, I would most likely use LEDs, but I figured I better throw the idea of cold cathodes in there anway cuz I have a couple laying around.

Yes, of course it will be optional. :D I want my portable to have all the awesome of playability along with all the awesomeness of looking shweet. Of course, playability comes first so all the fancy stuff has off switches.
