I would be pretty shocked if Metroid didn't work on it. I think it's an MMC1 game, at best (nothing too complex). The NOACs don't tend to barf until you get to MMC5/MMC6, and even then, some work. (Of course, some third-party developers used their own mappers instead of Nintendo's. Those are all questionable as far as compatibility goes too.)
The funny thing is, the NES/Famicom was not made with mappers in mind -- it just became evident quickly that they'd not planned for better games than what they released in the first couple of years in Japan. So, not being compatible with mapper games speaks of a fundamental issue with some NOACs.
