Linux Live CD wont boot

I have a Suse and DSL Live CD and it said it could not open DSL becasuse of some stupid reason and Suse just wont auto boot. What is wrong with them

the only Linux boot disk that worked was Ubuntu Linux. But even Ubuntu Linux didnt fully work

What are the exact specs of your system? What problems are you having exactly, any error messages? What isn't working in Ubuntu?

Usually passing some kernel options at boot up should solve some problems.

Some really old CD ROM drives aren't bootable, and a few early bootable ones can screw up. If your BIOS boot order is correct, and your system's hardware is all compatible, either try a newer drive or make sure the burned copies are intact/the CD Burner isn't fritzy/the CDs you have aren't bad, etc.

That's why you sometimes needed a floppy disk to boot into DOS, especially with the Windows 9X CDs. It loaded DOS' basic CD-ROM driver.

As far as I know all CD drives are bootable, I have an old 2x that will boot from CD, I think the BIOS is your only limitation. As long as it isn't a 486 or early P1 it should boot from CD.

If you are having problems booting CDs, try Smart BootManager. It is a bootable floppy that gives you an option of booting to HD or CD. A DOS bootdisk won't do any good for booting Linux.

Check the MD5 of your downloads to make sure they are good. Your burning software should verify that the CD matches the ISO so if the image is good the CD should be good.

wait , that do I have to download? There are lots of things I can download but im not quite sure what to download

If you can boot from CD, which I am pretty sure you can, you shouldn't need that. That is a boot floppy for older computers that don't have the option of booting from CD.

You still haven't given your computer specs, or what error messages you have gotten when trying to boot one of the LiveCDs. You said Ubuntu boots but some things don't work, what doesn't work?

If you give a little more information I will be glad to help you. I have a little Ubuntu experience, not much because I installed it for my mom and haven't touched it since.

when i tried DSL linux the first time the iso file i dounloaded was currupt and woouldn't work, so i downloaded it from another location and that one worked fine, so you might try to re-download it Joes2Silly, otherwise it is a hardware compadability problem, also is it the same computer that you burned it on, because if the drive that you are useing to boot linux is at a slower speed than the one that burned it, then the slower drive wont beable to read it as well.

You said that the Ubuntu CD booted right? If so your BIOS is already setup correctly.

I need specific details of what is happening to be able to help. It is hard enough to diagnose computer problems over the internet, it makes it 100x harder when I have no clue what is happening.

Instructions:

Shut down your PC
Press F2 or whatever button takes you to setup in your BIOS
Find The boot sequence (Just browse around until you find it)
Most likely it sais to boot brom hard-drive first
Change it to say, Boot from internal/External CD/DVD drive
Insert Live CD
Reboot PC
It should boot from the CD if it is intcerted....if a CD is not it will boot from Hard-Drive

You still haven't given ANY information except it doesn't "work". That could mean a lot of different things. You said Ubuntu did something, this means it is booting from the CD. If it is booting from CD then your BIOS is fine.

I will say this one more time, I need DETAILS.
