gcp? "ok" for a beginner?

Post by Aquador »

Hi, totally new to the site, and im REALLY interested in all this.

I wanted my first project to be a gcp...but I thought it might be a little harder to do then some of the others. What do you all think? Because the next thing I would want to do is the n64p.

Also, money wise...will I have to spend a lot of money on extra little tidbits?

Oh, I know you're knew around here, and I'm not a mod, but you shouldn't post two topics about the same thing. Maybe a simple topic in the Forum 42 asking which would be easier.

Answer: Try the N64p first. Many haven't even tackled the GC yet.

What are you thinking!? N64p is a lot harder than a GCp. Oh and hi. I made a GCp as my first portable.....and i can help you a bit. Turbo and Gamey will probally help ya too

I think it would be a good idea to start with something easyer like a Snesp. :)

The GCp hasn't been done by many, because of many reasons. Mine being:
Lack of solid GC games (in my possesion at least)
Large awkward parts to build a handheld around
Large controller ports that cannot be omitted
Don't get me wrong the GCp is only as difficult as you make it. If you made it "laptop" stye all you need to do is connect a PSone screen to the back, and connect two batteries. That is how I would do it, but I really don't have the need to play my GC on the go.

Meh, in my opinion, GCp is harder, at first. At least with cases, there are more worries and I HATE CDs. It's his choice though!

heh, it's much harder than the N64p ;)...at least, to make the best GCp possible, it is :P.

a laptop style semi portable GCp would be easier, definitely, but I'd suggest starting with something easier first. I made 3 and a half N64ps before tackling the GCp, and the experience made it so much easier ;).

though I didn't have anyone helping me, either :P, and you have the benifit of having threads for info and people who can answer all the questions you have. make sure you search first for info, though. if you don't know much about electronics or portablizing in general, definitely start with an easier portable.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

i'm making a GCp as my first portable, and it isn't that hard if you're not looking for Gamelver or Turbo Tax quality systems. Mine is just going to be in a cardboard box. And you should really do what you want to do the most. :P

in the world of art, there is no such thing as copying. And besides, i would take it as a complement that someone is using my idea
