Like I said, Quicktime's mp4 file format is very good for video ;)

Looking at Bic's QT encoded video, I can say that it indeed has little artifacting. But I hope all of you realise that the lack of artifacts is because QT uses a smoothening method when encoding video. It gets rid of most artifacting, but drops some details as a result. 'Still looks pretty good though, it's really personal taste (detail or smoothness).
Have a look yourselves.
I did where you said it didn't have codecs, but ignored you saying that as the video and audio wouldn't play without the codecs. My guess is that you installed the codecs without realizing it

[edit]I edited this post at sniper_spike's request to change the text that was quoted from his earlier post as he changed his earlier post. As the change was mostly trivial I accomidated him.

VLC media player has Codec's built in. Get it now, or you FAIL AT LIFE.

It doesn't exactly have the codecs "built-in." I'm pretty sure it uses DirectShow filters (sounds like greek to you doesn't it? don't worry I don't have a clue what they are either) to decompress video, much like FFDshow.

Yes, Bicostp, for the 720x480 version crop off the top 66 and bottom 66 pixels. That's what I did for the downloadable trailer, for example.

For a 320x240 version... get this - crop 33 and 33 ;)

Or for the video iPod version just add black bars of that size, so it doesn't get stretched or anything.

We should get this figured out soon so I can start advertising it!

ALSO how much is Quicktime Pro, how easy is it to use, and how fast does it recompress video? I could probably do a H.264 codec, but it might take a lot of fussing around to get it right. Was it easy to just set modes and methods with QT Pro?

Where's that option? Or do I need to use another program? (The last version of QuickTime I used thta let you edit was 3.0 or 3.5 on the Mac, and I'm not sure about all the QT7 stuff. I just use it for encoding.)

Ben, you might want to avoid h.264, it's kind of a processor intensive codec. While it looks really good and has great compression, it might not play smoothly on slower computers.

I DEMAND A GP2X VERSION! now that i have that out of my system the video should be 320x240 or 640x480 divx or xvid and less that 512mb in size, becasue if its more that 512 it wont fit on my card, i would LIKE it to be like 300-400mb so i have room for other stuff on my 2x! i dont care if its moderatly bad quality either

i only have a 512mb SD card, so unless its less than 512mb wont fit :? and if its more thant 700mb i wont download it because i would reencode it to fit on my 2x anyway and it would be a wast of time to download a huge version only to cut the size (and some of the quality) down ya know wjat i mean? and if you make an ipod video version (stupid filetypes etc) i would have to download that, convert it to avi and then encode it to fit >.<

I like the iPod idea because it could be called a Podcast, plus it'd be good for low speed internet people.
Yeah I thought of something smart!! :P I feel special.

Well, if it's the release, and it's direct-to-dvd, then it would be (by definition) at the same time.

Well, totokan, the whole issue is that Ben is releasing a quicktime format of the movie first. Next time, read the thread before talking, okay?
