ya... the first ques. is probobly dumb, but I know that an LED lights up screens, but I think I heard from somewhere on this site it can reduce the battery stuff on a screen, can someone confirm that or prove me wrong?
2) I also saw somewhere on a site related to this that there were 2 ways of organizing batteries. The 1st was increasing the time of how long the batteries last; and the 2nd was increasing voltage. Can someone tell me how to increase the time of the batteries' life(1st one)?

For the screen, am I right in assuming you're referring to the decreased power drain caused by LEDs when used to replace the original screen light? If so, then yes - LEDs use less power than the original light in most LCD screens. Look in the screen forum to find out how to do this (I suggest looking in the sticky first).
Metroid fan is right - wiring batteries in parallel will decrease the drain on each individual battery, increasing the battery life. However, as is usually the case, you'll need to wire batteries in series to get up to the voltage that you need for your portable device (assuming you're using batteries that individually do not have high enough voltage for your device). An example would be using AA batteries at 1.5 volts each to power a system that needs 5 volts to run. You'd then need 4 AA batteries wired in series (one after another, negative to positive) to get up to the voltage you need (4 x 1.5 = 6 volts).
