? Harm of old threads?

Post by Dr.Weasel »

What is the harm of bringing up an old thread?... Why is it so frowned upon around here? "am i missing something". i can understand something that is way old and doesnt need to be brought up but whos to say bringing up an old thread wont spark a new conversation?

If it's that old, it's that old for a reason. Just don't bring it up just to respond to the first message. Actually add some new info.

I don't see a problem with it as long as the bump has some sort of topic relevance. I think the problem is with bad bumps having no point whatsoever to the topic at hand. It is kind of annoying to see a thread that's over a year old with just a new post that says "lol."

bumping isn't so bad, as long as it's because of an update or something like that. Usually, it's something that's pretty worthless as a normal post, much less something that is ancient as well.

I'll be honest with you - I would have never guessed that.

It's not really bad if the thread is at most a few months old, and you have a good reason to respond. Answering a question that is 2 months old is not. If you have something to add, like a question of your own or information that would be helpful then we don't mind/care.

Antient threads. Like from 6 months and older, we don't want to see. Genereally its something that has be solved or worse yet a poll, and old poll. Don't bring these up they serve no perpose any longer.
