What's up with my controller?

Post by JAY »

The A button is going haywire. It'll act as if it's being pressed and depressed rapidly every so often, so there's gotta be something that's connecting its IN to the ground but I can't find anything wrong. I cleaned the controller board, put glue on all exposed pins (obviously an attempt of overkill, since I was pretty pissed off that something so basic could go wrong), but it still gives me problems. When I unscrew the board from the case and turn the system on, it works fine, but when I fasten it down, it starts going bad. I made sure that the rubber part of the button wasn't still touching when the button isn't pressed, but it still acts up.

What ticks me off the most is that the project is basically done. The screen, the system, and my batteries all work fine. The case is built. And yet the most asinine things go wrong during what is probably the easiest part of building: the actual fastening the parts into the case. Heck, I just had a DPDT switch poop out on me because one of the pins magically got loose, even though I hadn't touched it since I first wired it up and got it working.

I'm practically fed up with all this bull plop. This is the second controller that I've had to use (which, by the way, the first controller had no button problems), so I just might open up yet another controller and see if that will work (can't do it now, though, since I don't have another one with me). Until I can get another controller, does anyone know what I could do to try to fix it?
