Alright, I'm new to the whole hacking and slashing of parts to make portables and the like. About a month ago I fell in love with the idea though, so forgive me if I don't understand every technical term. Well now that that is cleared, I'm having problems soldering the pinout on a 7" slim PS2 screen. I'm trying to wire it from the PS2 screen into VGA. It's an Axion MP-710 - PS2 Slim 7" LCD Gaming Screen.
I've found the soldering guide for the Sony PSONE 5" LCD screen from the PSOne to a VGA header, but I don't know if this one is the same setup or not. Also I don't know if this requires a different amount to power it, like the PSOne screen needed to be have the volts going into from the comp knocked down from 12V to 7.5V and I don't want to fry it so, if anyone knows anything clue me in.
Well, you're out of luck because almost all LCD screens have no easily accessible RGB inputs. I'd guess it only takes composite video in.
The guts are probably way different than the PSone screen, what works for the PSone screen won't work for any other screen (hacking-wise.)
If you can open it up and google for datasheets on the chips, you may find a ADC chip or video decoder. You might be able to find the RGB pinouts for this chip, but it's not likely because not a lot of people can read Chinese.
Originally designed for the old Amstrad CPC but it works pretty well with anything that outputs RGB. The MC1377 encoder chip can be a bit difficult to get these days but if you check out places on the web that supply old chips (EPROMS etc) they should be able to help.
I've often found if people spend less time worrying about what someone the other side of the world has posted on an internet forum and more time getting laid, they'll be a lot less tense.
lol u guys....don't be so quick to asume its composite. The 7" screens for PS2 use component video (or RGB for the UK ones). The inputs are the same as the RGB lines but you have to go through the system menu to change it to Component. You definitely don't need to build any converters. The voltage input, BTW is 8.5v, it does not need to be dropped to 7.5v (and neither does the PSOne screen, FYI). You'll have to trace the inputs yourself since there isn't any information for these screens online yet. I'd love to start work on one but I just don't have the $100+ to shell out right now.
