3D Modeling

Post by Radon199 »

Well we have some talented 3D artists as shown in the Grand Theft Portable thread but I felt it nessisary, do to my masive ego to show off my latest work in the free version of Maya. For those wondering thats why it says "Maya PLE" all over the place, I mean they are giving away a $3000 program for free, they have to set some restrictions. Anyways, Heres a hand i've been working on for my portfolio to get into the Vancouver Film School sometime next year. If anyone wants to post some random work they have done with a 3D package feel free.

Anyway heres my modeled and textured hand...

Going for as realistic as posible with this one.

It's good, but I think the fingertips fold down too much, and there are a few too much moles (spots) on the hand. Don't even know if that's on purpose....

Good job though.

Yeah that looks pretty good. One thing though, it kinda looks like the hand has no fingernails (ouch!)

There freckles fyi :P The poly count is very very high I want to do movie modeling not game modeling (Although these days theres not really much of a diffrence :P ) so all of my poly counts are very high.

Also it's still a wip and I havn't created a replection map for the fingernails yet. Also I have to agree the fingers are a bit small.

Nice job. Do you plan on rendering it in perpsective instead of orthogonal?

Not sure yet, at this moment it's just modeling and textureing, i'll figure out what I want to do render wise once it's done, btw heres an update, fixed the bad UVs in the finger and added more prominent knuckles.

There are hands, and then there are sexy hands. And if you made the fingers just a slight bit longer, they'd be sexy hands.

Those fingers are way too straight!

vb, it's a rigging pose just to let you know, after I finish the modeling I have I'll pose them in a better manner. By keeping everything strait the model won't twist and eff up my texture and bump map.

Somehow I think the fingers need to be a little wider. Too much space between them...just doesn't look perfect.

i used to screw around in 3ds max 5. i never actually finished anything i did, but i have always been sort of partial to this incredibly disproportinate one of the solar system... (its just 3 spheres a torus and a lens effect!)

i made some 3d pics. i'm not gonna post them twice so here they are. i've gotten much better at texturing since then so those are kinda out-dated. the DBZ one is my newest

Nice hand ! Good texture too. I think everyone should post his creation in this post if Radon doesn't mine.
