Ben's Latest Flame-Inducing Next-Gen Prediction
Moderator: Moderators
I'd like to flame you ben, because I get a lot of joy out of that
But unfortunatly you're probably right. With any luck it will be some sort of dual-release that works on both a GC and a Rev, but only certain features are accessable on the Rev (sort of like the tingle tuner, but hopefully less stupid).
Warrenties were meant to be voided
I don't know if this will really work though. What person is going to shell out extra money to buy a whole new system just because there are extra features? I know, I know, fanboys will. However my point is that for people like me how like/love Zelda but don't have a GameCube, what incentive is there to get a new console for $299 when I can get a refurbished GameCube for a mere $79.
Ben is likely going to be right that Nintendo is going to shot themselves in the foot and take a hit in sales of the Revolution. And for those that don't believe, look at the fact they released the GBM, about 6 months after the DS. What kind of sales were they expecting. All that does is to show a glimps into what is likely to heppen.

Or, maybe they'll cram the whole GameCube circuitry into the Revolution's sound chip (like the Playstation 2.)
I doubt that though. I'd guess it would work similar to the SNES's undocumented NES compatibility mode; the CPU has the same instruction set and supports faster speeds with a slightly different architecture.

The SNES's CPU had an 8 bit 6502 mode, much like the 16 bit CPU of the Apple IIgs had an 8 bit mode (of, again, a 6502)
BUT the SNES had a completely different graphics chip, thus it couldn't have run the NES games.
Also the NES had a custom 6502 that included sound. So it probably wouldn't have been possible. Besides, didn't all SNES owners HAVE a NES?
Almost forgot, Star Fox Adventures started life as what would have been the largest N64 game Dinosaur Planet. Then got cancelled and remade for the Cube.
OK, even if TP (Twilight Princess, not toilet paper) ISN'T a Rev only game, I bet it at least has a bunch of "Rev" features if you play it on that console. Still, pushing people to get a Rev.
Speaking of that, Nintendo says it won't actually be called the Revolution. (probably because that name would cause distress in certain countries) So what MIGHT they call it? Venture a guess?

Just had to say it before anyone else did. Now you have to actually be creative!

Zelda TP is not going to be Revolution exclusive. I know this. It would sell the new console, yes, but it would also completely kill any chance the Gamecube has left. People will buy Gamecubes for this game, and because GCN's are cheap to produce Ninty will rake in the profit.
But just because it will be released for GCN, doesn't mean there won't be Revolution features. I bet there will be an optional Revolution control scheme hidden in there until it is played on a revolution. Certain minigames will only be accessable on the Revolution aswell. It'll be kind of like how the Advance shop was on the Oracle of Ages/Seasons games were. I bought Seasons when I bought my GBA, knowing I could've bought it for my GBC, but thought the extra on the GBA could be worth it. Even though it wasn't, the Revolutions controller offers more then a shop could for a Zelda game.

It'd be pretty hard to do, especialy with the funky controller. It's like you hold it in one hand, and then use some kind of pen-pointing device for the DPD (Direct Pointing Device).Gamelver wrote:not if I do it firstmarshallh wrote:Sir, you have a very good point there!
