I er...borrowed XP Media Center 2005. Can I upgrade it straight across on my XP Home or do I have to completely re-install?

I'm pretty sure you might be able to install over XP Home, but it's best to back up, reformat, and do a clean install.

It's best to do a new install, Home sucks anyways. If you have stuff you think will be difficalt or impossible to find then try to upgrade first.

you cannot upgrade, it has to be installed on a freshly formatted hard drive. if you try to upgrade, it will appear to work, but you wont actaully get any of the MCE software.
i did this as recently as 2 weeks ago... turns out my card is not supported by MCE. so its freeware PVR on windows 98 for me
