XP detects dvd r as cd

Post by Bay_Wolf »

I am having a problem with a new computer and a new dvd burner/ cd burner drive (not the same computer or drive as in my other post) and nero detects the dvd r as a dvd r but windows xp drive icon switches to a cd drive when i insert the dvd r and does the autorun asking if i want to burn a blank cd when its a blank dvd.

Regards and any help is welcome

does it still function properly? your drive probably isnt stupid enough to burn a dvd like it was a cd, so it either wont let you, or it will work properly... and just call it a CD for some reason.

Xp does that, it happens to me. My Dual (cd/dvd) drive always gets read randomly. I believe you can go on google and find something on annoyences.com or somewhat.

Not even a driver update fixed it? I know that my desktop has done that sometimes but as long as I was using nero I was fine, and it happened to only be when the machine was running XP Home.
