My school disabled the command prompt, it sucks, when you open the prompt a message is displayed saying something about it being disabled, then the prompt closes.

ARISE DEAD TOPIC!!!!!!

My friend and i were screwing around with net send today when we found out that if you type net into the command line without the send part, you get an interesting list of possible commands you can use (net config, net accounts, etc.) We haven't tried any of them yet (except for "net config workgroup", which displays a bunch of data about the network), but it looks pretty interesting. A quick google search told us that you can do all sorts of stuff that we shouldn't be able to (create and delete accounts, adjust the automatic log-off time, etc.). This could be a very interesting 2nd semester...

School admins are such n00bs

For most of my school years we only had BBC/Acorn/Archemedes computers.

Which meant you could do things like:

10 MODE 7
20 PRINT "Mr Brendon is a gaylord!"
30 GOTO 10

I've often found if people spend less time worrying about what someone the other side of the world has posted on an internet forum and more time getting laid, they'll be a lot less tense.

Well this is what to me. Since I hang in the library most of the time and I am an Assitant/Technician. I change drives and help noobies who haven't use pc's before. The librarian told me the admin password. Turns out thats the password to the whole schools pc. So I go on admin and create myself a personal user account where other students can't use my files. If anybody wants to do this just be on good notices with the school computer yeacher and so on and forth. They might tell you the password. Here's a hack for good grades. LoL. First if you have been a terrible student start on a clean slate. Participate,Study watch T.V one hour a week and go on the pc only if necessary(School work only)Do omework before you know it report card will be in and your average will be 95%. Well try it as well.

totokan is right on the first one, don't worry about making a long post. Making 2 posts in a row is considered a mortal sin around here. The other 2 points were a bit harsh, though :?

My friend found out you can log onto school computers with the name and pass "guest17". Its not an admin, but its a nice way around using your own account.

Okay, here goes...

As part of my degree, I have to do a set hours of work in my field, which is computers. I am doing it at school, without pay (one of the few aspects which sucks), and my account has been modified so I have Super Student privileges on the entire campus network. that and I know the admin password for every local machine in the place now.

I also happened to find out while testing a CD ROM drive that for all the trouble that they give you for logging into Windows before you can do anything else, you can pop in a Damn Small Linux CD and access the net anyway. XD

Maybe you guys should try that. Not only would a live CD allow you to bypass all the Windows crap, but it has EXCELLENT network detection (can even work on the recieving end of a Windows XP ICS setup without intervention), and there's a good chance the browser's site blocking will be gone, since you'll likely be using Firefox.

Plus, they might not be able to see what you're doing, and you're not really using the hard drive, so not much will change anyway. They can't read and write to your CD and/or RAM (even if they can monitor them, the application to do so would have to be either run from the hard drive or run over the network line, AND it'd have to work in a Linux environment. They could ID the computer maybe, but possibly not much else. Your student ID would be impossible to trace, since you're never putting the evil thing in anyway.

Heck, you can even put a DSL distro on a bootable flash drive to lower suspicions further. XD

Thanks for the link. Now I can erase super-bad hard drives that are giving me trouble...of course after I do that I usually do something even more effective.

I take the drive outside, put it on the sidewalk, and bash it with a hammer as hard as I can until the internal platters shatter.

It's GREAT stress relief after spending a while trying to save a dead drive and failing.
