I use one of three in my weekly go of things. At the moment I'm using my HP Pavilion (zv6123) because I can only get XP on my tower, and that doesn't want to connect to the internet. My tower once I fixe the MBR is a Gateway 700S series, I have XP (big mistake) and SuSE 10.0 install on different hard drives. My final computer I use is the old Toshiba Satellite Pro, it's old and crummy enough that no one would want to steal it so I use it to take note at school, using vi.

I'd use my G3 but that doesn't seem to want to work but I figure it out.

I use a clone I made 2 or 3 years ago. The thing was worth $1500 CAD when I made it and now you can get something just as powerfull for $600 CAD.

As for general specs it's 2.4 Ghz, 700 mb of Ram and a 128 mb Gforce MX. It has a piddly little 60 gig drive but other than that it suites me fine.

The other one I use is an old HP Pavillion my family got back in 1998 (ya I know, it freaky old). We got it brand new for $1500 CAD and the things 400 mhz. Came with a 10 gig drive and 256 mb of memory. It's surprizing how much the prices have changed in 8 years.

Absolutely no idea!

My brother in-law is a computer techy guy and we get his "cast offs". Everytime he gets a new computer, we get his old one. It's pentium 4 and two very large (200 gig) hard drives but that's all I know. As long as it allows me to access the web and record music, that's all I need it to do.

Also got a very old Time PC (circa 1998) that I'm using for a MAME arcade cabinet project.
I've often found if people spend less time worrying about what someone the other side of the world has posted on an internet forum and more time getting laid, they'll be a lot less tense.

I use my homebuilt AMD Duron 1.2ghz pc with 384mb ram. I also use my HP Jornada, it has wireless.
I also got on benheck once on my 8088 with 640k ram. I used an 8-bit LAN card and all I could run was telnet, so I used HTTP get requests.

I'm typing this on my iBook G3 (500MHz) with 384MB RAM and OS 10.4 My desktop is used about as much, and that's an AMD64 3000 (though I'm not in the AMD64 mode yet) with 1GB RAM running Windows 2000 (not much anymore) SuSE 9.2 and, as of recently, Mac OS 10.1 through PearPC :)

i built my PC in january 2004 for $1100 CAD. here we go:

- Asus P4P800 (this is a quality mobo people. you can tweak the FSP in 1mhz steps and the voltage in .125v steps)
- P4 2.6GHz @ 800Mhz
- 1 gig of DDR @ 400MHz in dual-channel mode
- 330Gb of storage, across 2 ATA 133 drives
- DL DVD writer, i forget the model now, but its 8-16x, depending on the media. (it also does CDs at 48x, of course)
- Sapphire Radeon 9600XT video card, with 128 megs of DDR, in AGP 8x mode
- and a 10 year old 21" CRT running at 1280x1024 or something. i forget.

i got that one running at 3.5GHz for about 10 minutes, now that its winter outside im considering doing it again outside. maybe i can hit 3.8.

my laptop:

IBM R40 type 2681 HU1

- celeron 2.0 GHz @ 533Mhz
- 768 MB DDR Ram @ 266
- 40 gig 5400RPM hard drive
- DVD rom/cd writer (speed unknown)
- ATI mobility 16MB dedicated DDR
- 14.1" TFT @ 1024x768
- LAN, USB, parallel, PCMCIA, VGA out, audio, PS2, fax/modem, and PSX

i have two more PCs at home, both P3's, one's 450MHz and the other is 866. i wont go into detail there. all my systems are running XP home edition, except the 866 which has XP MCE 2005.

Custom built? Did you speak to dell and ask to make it up for you, or did you just "customize it".
