Gameboy Color and chocolate milk DON'T mix

Um... this may sound kinda dumb, but... The other day, I put a little carton of chocolate milk in my backpack, you know, to save it for later, and I forgot about it. It ended up all over the inside of my backpack, and it got my all over (and in) my precious gameboy color! It's managed to last a LONG time, but it has now met a horrable fate! Is it still possable to take it apart and clean it, or am I just gonna have to sit in a corner and sulk?

How much actually got in the GBC? If a little leaked in near the buttons, it's not that big a deal. Just open it up and clean it up with rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs so tit doesn't get all sticky. It should be fine.

If there was a larger amount in there, its chances for survival are still pretty good. After all, they designed it to take whatever punishment a kid could dish out (which is a surprising amount of abuse). Remove the batteries, open it up, drain out any milk, and clean it up with q-tips, rubbing alcohol, and if necessary a small brush like a toothbrush you never used or ever plan to use to clean up the chocolatey mess.

I'd set its odds of survival at 75%. I've heard of gameboys that were left out in the snow for days that still worked, I once saw one fall into a bucket of water and, after the kid fished it out, it still worked. Don't worry too much; these little buggers are pretty durable.

i accidentally put my GBC in the washing machine a few years ago

. the power switch got a little rusty but other than that it works perfectly

i'm gonna give it a new power switch (i could give you pinout of where to hook it up if you need it) and an LED mod and replce the start/select buttons with tact switches (i lost the buttons

)

Ya, if nintendo products are anything, there durable as all get out. My GBA SP has gone through the washing mashine and still works.

Yup, thats the original gameboy that survived the GULF WAR. This really goes to show that The Big N makes sturdy ass stuff.

Wow, ya...

My GBP got dropped in the bathtub (thank you 4 year old brother) and after 3 days of it laying around, it worked.

To begin, that's ******* awesome! Unfortunately, the Big N did make sturdy things. Take your DS and drop it from 4 feet onto a wooden floor. I doubt it will survive. And that goes double with the GC.

Are you kidding me! There was a video I saw somewhere where they had a PS2, Xbox and GC. First they dropped it from the top of their heads. The PS2 died first, Xbox and GC worked fine, next they dropped it from 15ft, both the GC and Xbox were fine. Then the dropped a 10lb weight on them from their heads, they were unrecognizable, but still worked. Finally they just chucked them as hard as they could on the ground. Xbox died but the GC still worked, finally they chucked it at the ground again and it died.

EDIT: if someone can find that video for me I'll kiss their shoes and give them a piece of cheese

Not the first time(from experience) mine was open and I was playing it and dropped it onto asfalt (sp?) and the screen didn't brake... until I had it in my pocket at school and squished it...

The video (or at least one almost exactly like it) was on G4 on an episode of Xplay.

Oh and Super Mulletman what you said is false. I've dropped my DS and my GC at least 5 times a piece and my DS goes with me practically everywhere with me and hasn't been damaged except the top case.

Sorry I didn't specificate that it was my DS but I got it fixed at nintendo and it arrived today!

Ya I got my DS replaced because it had a stuck pixel. Instead of me haveing to send it in (this was like 2 days after Christmas last year) they sent me a new one. I was allowed to keep my DS untill the new one showed up, then I just put my old one in the box and sent it off. Didn't cost me a dime and I always had atleast 1 DS during the prosess.
