DAMN GROUND!!!

Okay now im mad

!!! I ran the PSOne screen mod and got all my wires connected... but the wire won't solder to the stupid ground! I tried scratching it with a knife, but still no stickage. Any ideas?

PS: Sorry if there is already another forum with this info, but my PC is moving SOOO slow today, so i really dont have time to go looking

scratch it a lot mor eand just keep trying to get it to stick it will were down eventually and stick just keep tring, and really scrape it hard

waait.....so you can't connect to ground?

there's gotta be at least a billion places where you can do that

!!!

on the 7805s, in the back....there are some holes in the side with metal lining that are connected to ground....there's various little spots everywhere where it's ground...

why wire it to a trace

?

to wire to traces, though, make sure ALL of the stuff is scraped off, so it's only copper, and then put solder on it before you go to wire it (tin it, basically). if it's already got solder on it, then it'll be a lot easier.

just leach off of the battery ground (second wire on port 1) That's wut i did.

Basically (haha! get it?) anything acidic will work to help solder to something. Metal Oxides can NOT be soldered to, so the use of flux/lemon juice etc. react to remove the oxides and provide a clean metal-only surface to solder to. Scraping is a more primitive way of acheiving this.

(Do you get the joke now?)

Find something acidic and pour a bit on there. However, something mildly acidic, nothing like that bottle of Hyrochloric Acid everybody has in their garage or something.

Lemon/Lime juice are popular substitutes for flux. However, I prefer to use flux since it works like a charm every time.

Ah I love chemistry jokes. I laughed. Yeah, go with flux. Its really good stuff, and you can get a small container of it at your local hardware store for like $1.50. What ground area were you trying to solder to? There's a big ground spot on the front of the board to the left of the LCD screen. That's what I use.
