Bloodrayne at the movies

Post by Radon199 »

I'm sure most of you have seen this but I thought I would just bring it to attention of people who havn't yet.
It was a bad idea to make a movie about a game that's greatest moment was a pixelated Playboy spread in October 2004. In any event, Uwe Boll's latest masterpiece, BloodRayne, has grossed a dismal $2.4 million in three weeks of release—and this is a film that cost just under $50 million to market and produce. BloodRayne made appearances in only half of the theatres Boll had aimed for, with 600 of those theatres dropping the movie after its first week of release. Only 56 theatres were still showing the film this past weekend.
For those who can't count thats $47.6 million in losses. I wonder whos gonna get sacked for this one. You think the analists would be able to atleast predict this somewhat better. What other Hollywood flops can you remember?

I could smell the failure of the movie before I even read about it. Another vampire movie, except with an ugly chick, based on a pretty lame game, that dosn't even have anything remotly to do story wise with the game... That sounds like success to me! :D </sarcasm?
Anybody else hear he's still making video game movies? I seem to rember reading that somewhere... If he is, thats one forgiving studio.

I find it funny that only 56 theathers in the intire continent are still showing the movie.... 56... thats less than 1 per state and province in the US and Canada. I don't think they are gonna invest in the DVD for it. Chances are that the people who payed the $2.4 million to go see it arn't very happy with it. If the DVD made even $1 million I would be surprized.

Uwe Boll is the new Ed Wood.

And it's sad, his NEXT THREE movies are all fully financed, due to some loophole in German tax law where it's OK to continually loose money.

I believe he's got Dungeon Siege, Postal, Far Cry and something else.

Man, think how much AIDS vaccine or food that $50 mil could have bought. Sure, you could say that about any movie, but Uwe "Toilet" Boll is just a money pit.

Still, his movies are good fare for SMN (see Jone's site ;)http://www.afistfulofreviews.com

but anyways.. yeah I was kinda hoping to see it because almost nothing else looked even reasonably good coming up and the games and comic looked decent..

ill probably end up waiting for it to be able to rent now.. it didn't even come to the theater down the street from me..

Hey, I thought fight club was a good movie. Well, except the fact that the half-hour introduction gets really boring.
