Wiring those damn LEDs....

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Wiring those damn LEDs....

Post by Gamelver »

for me, I always kind of hated wiring LEDs for the PSone screen...I wired them internally (wires inside the light diffuser, I mean) and it was always a pain.

Now, I simply poke holes in the bottom of the light diffusing box (using the LEDs leads with a soldering iron to heat them through the plastic) where I want the leds to go, and simply wire them on the outside, on the back of the backlight module. it's WAY easier, and it takes me a short time to LED mod the psone screen :).

here's a pic showing what I mean. the black dots are where you'd poke the LED leads through, and the ovals would be the actual LEDs:

just posting this to show a different way to easily wire up LEDs on the PSone screen, if you're having trouble :).
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

That's like the method Ben uses in his book and I use, except I just cut slits in the plastic to put the leads through.

yeah, I kind of got this idea from that, but this way you can let the whole LCD module go through the hole for the screen, and not have the led wires coming out...do you cut the slits vertically or horizontally, though?

I cut mine vertically because it's easier.
