Well i just searched for about 10 minutes and couldnt find anything on this so if it has been asked a thousand times, please forgive me. Has there been any news on a ps2 "slim" screen being developed, or do you guys see it as likely?

No....most likely it wont be made....it would make the pstwo too top-heavy...if you know wut i mean.......Just use a PSONE screen, But DVDs wont work, unless you do the PS2 RGB mod. I'm guessing you wouldn't use composite...if you used composite, then your fine (I think!)
ACtually, I think if you serach on ebay for Intect 5.4" PS2 screen, there IS a screen for a slim PS2. I think it's just a repackaged GC screen, but it's stil cool.
