Cutting the motherboard
I am interested in cutting the motherboard on the Sega gensis for the portable, so it will be smaller. Can someone show me where to cut it down?
PS3 sucks...
It wouldn't be wise to do that. You'd have to solder about 20-30 leads no matter what. Really if you want to be sure the Genesis is as small as possible, go with a Genesis v3.

Agreed. There are actually some pretty nice GOAC units out there, you should check them out. I got one of mine in Akihabara for about $40 in a Genesis 3 case, but it's even smaller than one of those board-wise. It also has a couple of handy switches for US/Japan and PAL/NTSC
It seems no worse to me than my Genesis 2 quality-wise, except that the sound output is mono only. The Radica is generally decent though for most uses, provided you have decent soldering skills...
In answer to your original question: so long as you aren't cutting through any components and you're careful about reconnecting traces, you can cut anywhere. There's no rule that says "On system X, cut here." It's basically whatever you can manage to reconnect properly, that's where you cut.
