GP2X games

Post by GamingRev »

Anyone know of a good shooter for Gp2x, something like GTA or resident evil tickels my fancy. I like the newer graphics, no retro games. If there is none like Resident Evil, or GTA what other good shooters are there for it?

Well there's Doom, and I'm pretty sure they have Duke Nuken for it too.

Better graphics than PSP? Please, the GP2x doesn't even have 3d acceleration.

Ya, your not gonna get better than PSP games on the GP2x because the PSP games are developed for the PSP so they are ment use every ounce of the hardware. With the GP2x, atleast untill someone decides to make a homebrew shooter or ports some newer shooters, your stuck with doom level gfxs. Someone is bound to try and port GTA III but not for a whyle just because they would have to compress the gfx to get it to run.

If you wanted PSP gfx you should have goten a PSP instead. The GP2x will most likly end up running 3d games at the level of the DS, maby less.

thts about right, about the best we can expect for native games (made for the gp2x no ported/emulated) is n64 quality 3d graphics, possibly somewhat better, or really beautiful 2d graphics

Natively, the 2x could produce PS1 graphics with a framerate of about 15. Running N64 graphics on the thing would get you one frame every thirty seconds. (that was an exaggeration for the slow.)

Only thing we may not be seeing is much support for those 3D games, except from hobbiest developers. Personally, I look forwards to a good IDE SDK for the GP2X, because my knowledge of actual programming languages (as opposed to game scripting techniques) is extremely limited. I'd love to dev 3D for the GP2X!

Do you guys ever think that someone will make an emulator for PS1/N64 that WILL use all the hardware available?
