Choosing the right portable game sys...

So my birthday is coming up, I was thinking of what the newest "hot" gadjet on the face of the earth today! I like the idea of DS linux, but dont know much about homebrew, but like it. I am on somewhat of a budget so what do you guys think I should do?

BTW: I was thinking about a GP2x, but that is a remote impossibility. Besides I have an iPod, that takes away a lot of the purpose of the 2x.

its not only good for movies and mp3s ya know it has an almost limitless array of games spreasing throught almost every presnes and snes library

and its got MAME and there is also a NEO GEO emu that is the crap is i may say so myself
