Rewiring a comp (sort of)

well my comp wasnt turning on so I wnt to were the power, reset, and LEDs were pluged in and unpluges them all. Now I have no clue what goes were but I am postitive the computer runs. Can someone provide me with some nifty info or what I should do no

Refer to you case and motherboard manuals. They should have the corresponding slots for in which the different case switches and LEDs should be plugged.

Then do a google of the make and model of your motherboard, even your case if you can find it.

Its so old, it dosent even have anything (that I know of) on it beside a warenty sticker on the back (very useless)

Look for the make of the whole PC then, maybe on some obscure site you can find some specs.
If you still can't find anything, and unless there are very detailed labels on the plugs and slots, then I'm sorry to say, your copulated to excrementness.

Well, open it up and look for a model number on the motherboard! I've yet to come across a mobo without any info on it. (Except for a 286 mobo..)

How'd you make that conclusion? You don't need to unplug anything unless there's a side door case fan!

just take a screwdriver, and while the comptuer is off, short all adjacent pairs of pins until it turns on. there is no way this could hurt the computer. then you have your power pins. you can try doing a similar thing with reset, as i dont think shorting any of those pins for 1/2 a second will hurt you comptuer. its all low voltage signal lines and such...

but who needs a reset button if you have a working power button.

Look extremly close to next to were the pins are. If you can find that, are there any colors on the pins' bases?
