English 12 Provicial Examination

Post by Radon199 »

Today I took my English 12 provincial exam worth 30% of my final mark (eeek!). This is like the big kahuna of all exams at my school. People fail the year because of this one (you need English 12 to graduate, just so you know) So I get there, we have to read a story, look at 2 adds, read a really long poem and read a article and then answer a billion questions on all of them. The short story was about some kid and a christmas tree, the others were rather similar in suspense and what not :x Anyways, so I get to the last one and it's title reads "Video Mind Games", I am like ok, weird. So I start reading it and it's about how video games effect the mind and that your body can't distinguish weather you kill a real hooker or kill on in GTA. So I finish all the questions on that, go to lunch and come back in the afternoon for the second half of the exam (this exam lasts 5 hrs btw), and we have to write an essay on one of the articles from the morning. The one for the Video game reads "Defend Video Games"... Long story a short we only needed to write 300 words and I wrote 550... :P

Anyone else get get marks for arguing about video games with people? This is the second time I've written an essay on the subject.

I argue with my teachers all the time, I think I would be falling if I didn't. I got a 95 on a health project about the effects of video games on the mind. My studies conclusion was: Video games have no affect on the human thought process as far as reality or virtual reality... It was the easiest thing I’ve ever done lol.

I could argue with either my Human Relations or Socielogy, but I'd get hit with a study from the '50s. That one is where they show two kids a movie of a man hitting a person or one of the bop-o clowns. It's suppost to show how kids emulate violence. So the only thing I could shoot back with are the statistics in that one article that was posted a week ago.

I'd just be fighting an uphill battle, something I don't always shy away from but really these people have had more time to research the facts then me.

Man wish my grade 12 english exam was that easy. I write tomorrow and its one giant essay(my weakest english skill) comparing Hamlet, and some really crappy book called Obasan(about Japanese-Canadians in WWII). I live in Ontario Canada, and our curriculm is really......yeah.

Yeah I know what some of you are thinking, he has an exam tomorrow, what is he doing on benheck. Well come on its english right?
It really doesn't matter, through out my entire school career, my english grade has been B+ to A-(78-81), no matter how hard or little I try. Since its now like 84, I'll end up getting a low 70 on this(its worth 20%) which will bring my mark to the 78-81 area.
SNESp - 100%
Protable X - 15% - I need money :(

My English teacher basicly said the only way to study for the exam I just had is to read a dictonary. Theres no facts to remember, no statistics, and if your like me and have the essay format down pat than theres nothing much too do. I'll probably get an 85-90%. Now for a provincial exam thats very good.

God. 5 months and then i'm out of high school. I sware, if this terms goes as fast as the last one i'll be out before I can blink...

Haha, that camera reminds me of one my mom picked my up at the local value village. Shes a compleete antique addict and picks me up weird things. It was one of the over sholder ones that recorded strait onto the big VHS tapes and had a big fuzzy mike sticking out of the end. The things amazing, When I was like 8 (when she got it for me) I would throw it on my sholder, and because I was so short it in preportion to me it looked like I had a full sized movie camera on my sholder. I used to run around making movies of absolutly nothing what so ever... good times. Now I have my mini-DV cam thats like the size of my palm and can hold like 5 hours on one tape. Makes me want one of those HD mini cams.
