wiring diagram

Post by blackbox_dev »

I need somebody to make me a diagram with how to hook up my batteries. Here are the specs of the batteries:

- NiMH 1.5v
- 1800 mAH (1.8aH)

I need the output to be 12v at 4000mAH or higher.

(P.S. every one on this forum has been really helpful in doing the research for constructing my portable :) )

 You're gonna need TONs o' batteries for that.

Let's see...
12v/1.2v = 10 cells

10 cells in parellel X 3 = 30 cells, = 5400mAh

That's gonna be pretty heavy!
I suggest using 7.2v and building a switching regulator. (LM2576.)

wow, didnt know it would be that much! i guess if it would be that expensive i should get a lighter li-poly battery (12v 6000mah) and a smart charger.

sorry, it isnt a li-poly, it was a NiMH. I was thinking about a 14.8v li-poly or something, but here is the link to the NiMH : http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?P ... AID=101040

yeah, maybe I will use 7.2 volts if I can run the PSOne screen off it. Can I?

EDIT: My free TI DC/DC needs at least 9 volts. So, I can still power the 12 volt line off that, use the DC/DC for the 3.3v line, and then will 9 volts run the PSOne screen or will it fry it?

yeah, I was pretty sure a PSOne screen could take 7.2v. Has anyone here ran a DC/DC from TI off 7.2v? Because it says it needs 9 minimum.

BTW, the one ill be using is the PT78HT233

I'm having the same problem and I'm about to test it out... The worst that can happen while using 7.2V batts with the TI DCDC converter is jumpy voltage... small jumps mind you. I'll try it out and get back to you.

Yes. I used the battery also and I played star fox for a little bit without errors. I do advise you to play it for a long time to see if the graphics distort so that this is a shure prooven way to work.

ok, great!
here is how I will get power then:

7.2v battery to 12v line
7.2v battery to PSOne screen
3.3v DC/DC to 3.3v line

thanks for the info!
