im giving this n64p tyhing one more try before i give up on the 3 power circuit crap and fall back on my DS. does ANYBODY know which of 6 lines connect to each other>? my multitester is new and it says they all short. so, help! please!
negative 12v? you just mean the negative side of a 12v source right? 24v would be severly unnsecary...
anyhow, sometimes things spark when you plug them in. it just takes a high initial current to charge up all the caps and such. kettles will spark if you unplug them real fast. that has to do with inductance though...
anyhow, it could just be that. unless you feel that these sparks are way to big to be normal or something. i suggest learning how to use a multimeter before you do anything else. if the power lines really are shorted youre going to hurt your batteries.

ok, sorry if im annoying you guys, but i need to make sure im not making a mistake before i assume my n64 fried and go get another one (keep in mind I don't have an adaptor to test)

ok i don't think you really understand this so here's how it works:
you have +12v , +3.3v, and ground (0v, not negative 12 or 3.3 volts). you only need 1 wire for 12v, 1 wire for 3.3v, and 1 wire for ground. ground can go aywhere on the board that's connect to the thick strip of metal around the outside of the mobo (pin 1, 5, or 4 will work). your 12v wire goes to the pin connected to the thread labeled "12v" (pin 6), and your 3.3v wire goes to any of the pins connected to the thread with the "3.3v" label on it (pin 2 or 3). even though there's 6 pins, you only need to connect 3 wires

no i wasn't talking about the screen at all, just powering the N64. i'm not sure what the thing sticking up on the right of your pic is but you got the 3.3v and 12v right. however, one of your grounds is connected to a 3.3v pin instead of ground (the one connect to a middle pin), just keep your ground to the right and you only need to connect it to 1 pin
