Current PSP's
A couple weeks ago, the analog stick on my PSP completely died. Luckily, I had bought a warranty at eb games. I just walked in and got it replaced, no questions asked! I took it home expecting not to be able to play homebrew anymore, because I expected that there would be a new firmware. Well, I turned it on, and low and behold, it has firmware 1.52! Is this just one that has been sitting in a store for a while, or are PSP's still manufactured with firmware 1.52? Also, I would like to recomend the EB games warranty to anyone buying a PSP, because if it breaks, they will just replace it.

Yeah, I thought they wanted to stop homebrew. The fact that they are still selling PSP's with old firmwares puzzles me.

To me that sounds like a great idea but if you think of it from a business point of view, it's a whole different ball (and paddle?) game. Once they've sold you the system, they need to keep making money so how do you do this? Simple.... have a system that only they can make games for. It's very different when like us, you're making portable game systems for a hobbie. We do it for the fun of it - they do it to make money.Kurt_ wrote:Personally, I'd want people to buy more of my system because they could play games other people made on it. I'd even make a system that didn't have any games at all (although it'd be much more expensive) and the only way to use it was to make your own games.
Plus they're proberbly scared of a repeat of the early 80's video game crash - lots of 3rd party games being made of low quality. Okay, Atari were guilty of a large part of this (ET anyone?) but still, caution makes business sense.
I've often found if people spend less time worrying about what someone the other side of the world has posted on an internet forum and more time getting laid, they'll be a lot less tense.

Oh yes! I was one of the poor kids that got it just after I'd seen the movie and expected to be just as good. So when in the movie did ET fall into a hole exactly? At least it was "reduced to clear" so my parents didn't pay full price.timmeh87 wrote:has anyone ever actually played ET? i broke it out the other week to show my girlfriend. i had forgotten how terrible it really was...
To me, Pac Man wasn't as bad as people make out - mainly because I hadn't played the arcade game first as I was too young to go to an arcade by myself. As Otis in The Devil's Rejects said "I set my standards pretty low so I'm rarely disappointed"

I still possess the unholiest of games, E.T. It is as bad as people say. Also, I have the original Pacman too. To clear this up, people hated the Atari Pacman ecause they cheaped out on the ROM chip and had to deal with lower capacity, which meant suckier graphics compared to the arcade release, and LOTS of blinking sprites. The graphics were as bad as the suckiest Atari launch titles, but I like it for the gameplay.Wayne Venomous wrote:Oh yes! Warranty-Voiding fun!
