I have taken on the challenge of hacking this screen! woo!!
The screen itself consists of 2 main parts these are a custom video convertor board (i think it converts from composite to rgb) and a Casio CMV54NTO4P lcd panel and controller board. The board seems to accept RGB i assume this because the wires going into it are red, green, blue also there is a grey heatshrunk tube with 4 wires in it those wires are white, pink yellow and a thicker black wire (i assume the thicker black wire is ground) i will post some pics later.
Thoughts? feelings? and helpful suggestions? also i am looking for a schematic or datasheet for the casio panel can anyone help?

I found a way to run that screen off 7.2V. See, the red and blue wires going to the screen are +12V from a 12V regulator on the board. But inside the screen there is a 7805. So it dosn't need 12V to run. So all you have to do is discconect the blue and red wires (BTW they both connect on the screen, so you don't even need the blue wire at all) from the board, and then input 7.2V into the red wire and power in jack on the board.
Voila, It runs!

How sure are you on this? If you're right, then I'm going to be hooking my intec screen up to my atari portable (hey I'm bored and out of money so I must mess around with what I have). Right now it just has an RCA cable output, so why not slap on a screen that I got real cheap and have had sitting in a box under my bed for a few months. I'm still using the original atari power adapter, which outputs +9 volts. Double Edit: I noticed when I opened 'er up that something cam loose and I don't know where I should reattach it. It's a large black cylindrical object that has "16 V" and "470" on the side. One wire is still attached near the heavy blue wire on the back of the controller board, and the other wire is flappin' in the wind. Little help?

I'm very sure. I ran the screen off 6 Ni-Mh AA's playing Sonic (BLURR-Y, lemme tell ya.).
The way it's setup it takes something over 12V (RPGTnicks site says 18V needed) as an input, which goes into a 12V regulator, which then goes into the screen which has a 5v regulator. So it's like this
18V power source--->12V unneeded reg---->5V screen reg.
By Simply powering the LCD's 5V regulator off the input, instead of the 12V reg, you save power, and you can power the whole thing off 12V OR 7.2V. So it would be like this
7.2V power source---->5V screen reg
So all you have to do is find the 12V wires (mine were red and blue, but yours might be different) going to the LCD module, disconnect them from the power/AV/audio amp bard, and hook them up directly to the power input. Then just plug in a 7.2V battery and it ought to work spiffy.

Sounds like a capacitor. The 16V is a voltage rating, and the 470 is probably tells how many microfarads it is. If I hadn't thrown my screen away when it broke I could likely help you out, but thats not the case I'm afraid. I tell ya, these screens are not nice. Heh heh... Anyway, thank you for the help, G-force. And I'm not too concerned with the image quality - I'm hooking it up to an Atari. All I need is to see solid blocks of color, and I'm good.G-force wrote:They break easier than women when they're near me.
As for the capacitor, the question still remains. I looked to see if I could tell where it broke off but to no avail. Anyone with an Intec screen want to take a quick snapshot for me? Or just point me in the right direction?
Edit: I think I found where the capacitor is supposed to go, so that problem is fixed. Also, I found that you in fact DO need both the red and blue wires hooked up to the power input in order for the screen to work. I'm currently getting sound, but no video which is confusing me. I have the audio hooked up to the red and white wires coming from the back of the board, and the composite video going to the yellow wire. It should work! But it's not! Alas! What's disturbing me the most is that when I hook up the atari to the AV input jack to see if that would work, I have the same problem - sound but no video. Just a blank black screen. Sounds like a problem with the screen board itself, doesn't it? Any suggestions?
