Approximate battery voltage drop?
K I got a car adapter that outputs it says 3v 1.5amps. Im hoping a few tenths more on the volts part but anyways, How do I hook it up to 5 1.5 volt batteries and then to the N64 to see if it works?

batteries in series....then, postive output of batteries to the postive input of the regulator. negative output to the negative input of the regulator (car adapter
).....3V output of the regulator to the 3.3V input of the N64...negative output (all negatives are the same, though, in this case) to the negative input (ground) of the N64. really simple, actually
.

Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

oh and can I just use the negative on the battery to the ground on the N64 instead of the one from the adapter? I'm just testing it right now so I won't break it.......yet!
and what oart of the adapter is the positive in part? the tip of it or the wings and hold it in the socket?

I was trying to see if the adapter worked. I hooked up 7.5v of batteries, then put it into the adapter. I wasn't sure where the positive current went in so I tried both ways. To see if it even worked I put it on 4.5v (to test)and thought "Hey if it can power this little dc motor it'll power my N64 on 3v" put the motor against the wires and nothing. I take the batteries off the adapter and they barely make the motor go. So i'll get some new batteries because they were probably almost dead anyway but are there any other reasons for it not working?

wait, so you reversed the polarities? that might have fried something....in fact, it probably did. read up a bit on portables and stuff (like the sticky, for example) before trying this
...it can help!
diagrams have been posted, and the how-to should be in the sticky...

and finding the pinout for car adapters is extremely easy: the wire that went to the tip (or fuse going to the tip) is input. there are 2 wires that come out of the car adapter, the plain one is ground and the one with a strip/pattern or something is output
