Post by gamer2 »

Is there a way to use a XBOX hard drive on a Computer? I know about the Passnumber thing, so is there anyway to get it with out the Evolution X software?

i think you can use the evox dash to "unlock" the drive. then you should be able to pop it into a comptuer. check through the menu options.

lol oh i missed that one crucial word.

well youre going to need to use some sort of dashboard. you need to boot into the xbox off a disc so you can unlock the hdd. whats wrong with evox?

ive never used any other dash, i really couldnt help you unless youre in evox.

You can check out my softmod project, I never finished it (might try it again later), but you may want to try it.

If you want to get around the problem of the hard drive being locked, you remove it after being powered on. It's used in a method know as "hot swaping" where you can turn your Xbox on and after unlocking the hard drive you remove it and then can replace it. If you were to remove the hard drive from the Xbox and then move it to the PC it should be fine.

I don't know how compatible it will be though as the Hard drive is formatted to FATX which is a variation on the FAT format.

Good luck otherwise.

Some guy made a program that would reflash the drive with the same firmware, and that unlocks the drive. This only works on the Seagate drive, though. Check out Llamma's Xbox Adventures.

You can magnet the HD and then format it.

you CAN NOT read an xbox drive in a PC ..........period

you CAN unnlock the xbox drive, format it, and use it as a 10 gig drive in a PC,

there is NO WAY of reading an xbox drive, other than FTP to an xbox with an xbox drive inside it

(there are various linux hacks about for reading FATX partitions, but nothing you lot could use)

I was looking on xbox-scene and found this tutorial. I think this might be close to what you're looking for.

Once again, you can magnet the harddrive to wipe ALL of the data including partitions, it is 100% safe and 100% reliable. I've done it for 2 of my Xbox HDDs already.
