How much power can a snes without a regulator take?

I want to try to power the snes without using the screen because the controller won't work and I think it's because it isn't getting enough power.

I personally wouldn't put more thene 5.5v into the SNES.

Double check your connections too, if it's working with the 7805 (but controls are not), there's a much greater chance the controller has a loose or broken wire somewhere.

if your working without the 7805 i can verify it will safely take up to 5.6, would not suggest going higher will go as low as 4.3 also

just try conecting a ground to your controllor's common that fixed mine

Well I have it kinda hooked up like in bens book and the snes turns on with sound and video so I don't know why it won't work....hmmm

im using a snes (mini) with a 7805 and it runs good with 9.6 volts. now im getting a regulator to save heat but the snes i believe can take 10 volts because going into the system is 10 volts so dont go any higher. 7.2 volt batteries will work jsut fine without having to worry about frying out your mobo.

that is using the regulator tho! unregulated that would certianly kill your snes

Both. You can use a LDO that will let you input 6v (5 rechargable batteries), and will generate a lot less heat. You can also just skip the regulator and have the batteries connect directly (like Triton), so you know you're likely only going to be putting in 4.8v (4 rechargable batteries).

well im my case im using a 9.6v recharchable battery because i have so many of those things lying around so im not going to use AA style batteries.

is 9.6 volts ok tho with a 7805? and wut is the voltage of a ps1 lcd?
