PSP Homebrew for 2.0+ users

Post by Radon199 »

Well since this just came out about and noone seems to have posted it I gess I will.

Fanjita from the pspupdates forums has found a way to run homebrew programs on 2.0+ PSPs useing a exploit he found in his well known GTA cheat device.

In an exiting turn just yesterday he release the dev kit for makeing homebrew designed to run thorugh the cheat device.

At the moment there are no emulators and just some basic games but in a few weeks there maby be some out.

This for those who havn't figured it out works on 2.5 AND 2.6

Heres a link for anyone whos interested, I know some people were talking about it a whyle ago.

I saw that and got really excited. Then I realized it meant we (me +brother, kinda share the PSP... I take it from him) still had to wait to play emus. I'm really glad he got it cracked though. So far the only game I've seen you have to play through GTA saves and if you don't have the game, no homebrew. I hope that eventually they can make it able play homebrew without using GTA.

Yeah!

So, you need to have GTA to get this to work?

Ya you need GTA for it to work atm but the fact is that Fanjita (who btw was first to run homebrew in 2.0 and built the 2.0 EBOOT loader as well as crack 2.0+) has it running in GTA meens an EBOOT Loader similar too the 2.0 one will be out soon.

He will more than likely be eather bringing out a downgrader or an EBOOT so you probably won't need GTA.

Cool, I have 2.00, so I could use MPH's downgrader at any time, and downgrade. My dad won't let me for some reason, got any advise to convince him? I have a BestBuy Replacement warrenty, so I don't think it voids that since I'm not taking it apart.

You may have a warently but bricking your PSP isn't covered by it. Don't downgrade, it's risky business. Just use the EBOOT Loader for 2.0. It runs 85% of all the homebrew and is rather safe. Although nothing is 100% safe.

i used MPH and upgraded to 1.52 to 2.0 and then down to 1.50. worked great, no brick, just dont remove the battery like some people say to, if you follow all the instructions properly itl work great!
I'd imagine right now you wish you were a cuttlefish...

yeah, it works fine........if it bricks your PSP i'll buy you a new one.....i'm so confident..... but it WILL work! i've downgraded like 6 people's psp's and they all worked.......just do it anyway and then patch your 1.50 psp to think it's a 2.0 (via WAB VERSION CHANGER), then your dad will never know :)

Well this morning Fanjita managed to make a breakthrough on the 2.0+ homebrew front. His EBOOT loader is now in the full developemental stage and this means that soon anyone with a copy of GTA can easily run any homebrew that works on 2.0.

In the words of...some guy, "I'm not going to run homebrew if I need to hack the heck out of a console for it."
