crash problem

Hi everyone, I'm new here and I've started to make a megadrive handheld. Well I tested it today and my screen works, I tested with streets of rage and it works. Only a few things that I still got to do. But I have a problem if I connect my controller to the megadrive, the game suddenly chrashes. Do you guys know why?

try plugging in before power on?

Megadrive crashes easily with controllers for some reason, I think it's the knock on the cartridge
