I love my GP2x...so what if its not sony? Heck, I love sony's ps2..but I also love the GP2x more than the PSP. The reason for this is because I'm a big homebrew fan (mostly emulators and such), love the movies, pictures, ebooks, and other various things you can play on it. It's like the first universal handheld that can play anything that is programmed for it. Sony's psp has nice games for it with unbelievable graphics, but I'm not into there games that much. I prefer playing older games anyways. Not to mention you save yourself a lot of money buying one of these things too.
All in all, if you are a retro-fan and enjoy homebrew then the GP2x is for you.
If you like commercial games, then the PSP is in your ally.
EDIT: Was the thread originally named GP2x vs. Nicholai? Or did someone change it when the whole argument started? Sorry just wondering

Can I ask something: Who really cares? Its the damn PSP and GPx2, we kept a very civil tone with the "iPod vs. PSP" thread, why not with this debate? Perhaps because you both need to grow up.
PSP was not desined for homebrew, it was the means to an end: Sony selling more gaming software and movies. If it had homebrew designed into it there would be no firmware upgrade 2.0 and they would sell UMD-r for people to add movies or programs on to it.
The GPx2 is really just made to be like a portable computer. It runs just about any software and has it's firmware is open-source so you can port or write any program to it.
See there really isn't anything comparible in philosophy or marketing style. Get over this stupid debate with has become nothing more then a retarted flame war between two very immature children.

Screens
Well look at the PSP screen it sucks, we can all agree on that. There is nothing you can do about it sucking, you cant replace it with a better one. The GP2X screen is amazing bright, vibrant.
And according to ben "The screen is the heart of your portable"

I would have gotten a GP2x but 1. the PSP had enough room for me to store my tv shows and mp3s. 2. I'm not into old ports of old FPSs, mostly because I never played them and i'm not truly into SNES and NES roms. and 3. It was hard enough covington my dad to let me spend $250 on an system from Sony let alone even trying to get him to let me buy one from some obscure chinese company hes never heard of.

The PSP screen looks nice now, <s>but it has a plasma screen, meaning it has a shelf life. So, in 15 years, you could find a PSP still in the box, sealed, at a garage sale and the screen just won't look the way they do now.</s>
