Diablo LAN game
Hey me and my friend are sitting here bored so we tried to make a diablo server to play together in (Yes diablo 1) So it doesnt support cross over and the only way to do it without a network is over a phone line. To connect to a person you need their dial up modems phone number. How do you find your modems phone number? Thanks

So you guys are in different houses trying to connect to each other over your dialup modems? In that case, whatever phone line you're plugged into you be your modem's number. So, if you only have one phone line in your house, then that's the number, if you have multiple, it depends which one you're hooked up to.
BTW- Great choice of a game, I love the original Diablo (and the sequel).

If the modem is plugged into the jack, it's related. You set your computer to listen to the phone line, and have your friend call you (using the game, of course) Your computer "hears" the phone ring, and picks up. After that, your computers talk to each other and away you go! I used to do that every now and then with a friend of mineHomicidalBarber wrote:I dont think so since in no way is my computer related to my home phone number

Yeah, if they're close enough they can connect the modems directly to each other, they could just as easily set up a network. You would just need to make sure both computers have IPX network drivers installed.SpongeBuell wrote:Well, I was looking at this![]()

Possibly. I'd have to reinstall it. And I'd be starting from scratch.sam wrote:Btw, does anyone want to play D2:LoD? East cost non ladder?
As for the thing. I've done diablo through dialup modem to another dialup modem. Not hard just be sure the person hosting has a good connection and good hardware specs.
As for the phoneline network... Those networks can get up to 10Mbitsp/s, not as fast as ethernet though. http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/phone-network.htm talks about it here.
