PS2 REDONE (or redux? ;)...coming soon

I've spent the past week and a half working constantly on my ps2p. I have solved just about every tiny problem there is and I even have the entire thing running off the original PSTwo power supply! It will run off one battery as well which will match the power supply in 8.5v. I'm using a switching DC-DC converter to achieve the exact voltage with limited power usage. It's also going to be bundled with more goodies than before. Stay tuned, I'll be adding pics and video to my site when it's done....

I might have to write up a new 'how to' as well considering the demand for it.

ITS HERE...!

it LOOKS pretty much the same but it's the inside that counts! Here's a list of what I added:

-'Green Dot' Matrix Infinity Mod Chip! Includes a TON of features such as Macrovision fix (thank God, DVDs in RGB finally), DVD region free, multi-disc support, auto/fast boot modes, etc etc..

-COMLETELY redone power supply with a built-in DC-DC converter! Entire thing runs off one 12v battery and internally converts the voltage to 8.5v.

-Green Tint fix: this was a long time coming...thanks to some help here on the forums I was able to fix this

-Amp interference fix: I had to completely isolate the audio amp on the PSOne screen from all grounding traces...a HUGE pain but entirely worth. Now the audio/video is completely separated with perfect quality and more audio power!

-Vertical line fix: using a 40uH inductor on the cathode input I was able to remove the vetical line interference cause by one battery operation! This is what enables the whole thing to run off one 12v batt with crystal clear video =)

-Dual fan mod: Not only is the bottom fan still there (with cool blue LEDs now) but I created a simple mod to run the internal fan at FULL power with the flip of a switch! GREATLY reduces overheating

-HIGHLY regualated power supply: the most insane supply regulation you'll ever see...over 10,000uf BUILT IN using parallel connected surface-mount caps hand soldered by moi =) Additionally, all separate supplies (5v,12v,8.5) are individually regulated with 3K resistors and their own caps.

-SUPER protection: 4amp resettable fuses built in with lots of diode protection for reverse-polarity connections/ground shortages (should anything ever happen)

-64MB memory card BUILT-IN!! I wonder if it's even possible to fill this sucker up with data...

-Lower Power Consumption: Thanks to the new DC-DC reg and single battery operation the power draw has been dropped down to ~31 watts. It draws 2.6amps rather than the old 3+ with a single battery life of 3-4 hours.

and........

-BUILT IN RUMBLE! Yep, I even built in the dual shock n rock feature using rumble motors from old cell phones!

....I think that convers all the additions

of course there's also the new Playstation logo decals I added

I will be adding a ton of pics (a lot of internal stuff and a DC-DC conv schematic) as well as a video of it in action to my site! Stay tuned!

Hey I'm going to be building a PS2 portable soon. Do you think I could ask you some questions later? I've never worked with a PS2 and it might prove to be tricky.

Looks great, I'm very impressed with the fact you soldered so well on the PS2. That thing has some tiny contacts.

The real beauty is in the playing quality though (screen/audio) so I'll try to get that video up this weekend so you can all see it in action (and with DVDs in RGB...*drool*)

G-Force: yea, you can ask me about the portable just try to ask me the hard stuff...I get a lot of n00bs that ask me rediculously simple questions (like how did you connect the screen and blah blah). But I would be glad to help, just AIM me at Tuneviperz14

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! That baby is L_O_A_D_E_D! I must congradulate you on your seccess, and your welcome for the RGB data fix, im sure that would have highly downgraded the gameplay if you had that come up while playing. I am astounded. Great Job!!

Amazing fully loaded portable! I'm just wondering, why there is electric tape over your screen? At least it looks that way in the pic. Beisdes that being there, that is one heck of a franken mod
