powering the 3.3 line

can I power it straight off a 2000mah battery or does it have to be regulated?

how many volts is the 2000mah battery you would like to use? from what I've read here, the 3.3v line is pretty sensitive and should have some sort of regulation to make the voltage provided as close to 3.3 as possible

all batteries have some sort of discharge curve, meaning that there is no such thing as a battery that outputs a constant voltage. the 3.3v line is indeed sensitive, and you would be foolish to give it unregualted power.

and a resistor is NOT a regulator. just thought id add that in there.

A resistor basically limits/resists current which affects voltage. The high Ohm Resistor, the more resistance (duhr).
