...save his bandwidth. Since there was the slashdotting, there were a lot of people and Ben seems to want to save Bandwidth. Because of this, I thought we could post some suggestions. One major idea is to have a news archive, like your old site. You might want to archive until quite recently, since all of your project 42 pictures take a LOT of bandwidth, and the user is seeing it whether he (or she, I suppose) likes it or not. Maybe you could make thumbnails of pics, and people can click on it, though that may be some more work. Also, I'll volunteer to help with the batch processing and the like (I'll also make your videos internet friendly)

We could also find someone to set up a mirror, so that people have an alternet site to go to for just info and this site will be delegated to more forum use then.

also, someone could host the Lizzard of death movie (maybe a high rez one?).
News archive sounds good. I like the quicktime movies better because I always have a program conflict with ati, Winmedia and winamp for what will launch what.

Well, when I ported all the how tos I coded it so the pics are still on the old site, so when a pic is loaded its using up the old sites bandwidth...

well, I can set up a account at my site where Ben can ftp things into it. I'd gladly host lizards of death too. The only problem I see is that some people have trouble accessing my site unless they use a proxy.

How thoughtful of you all. Speaking of movies, yesterday I made a SVHS-to-DV copy of the ORIGINAL Adventure! that I did in 1996. Today I'm going to transfer it into my computer so I'll have a digital copy I can restore and then make available.

This way you can see BOTH Adventure movies and know what's going on in the second one.

The first one is long, though - 1 hour 41 minutes, even longer than Port Washington! This would be a BIG download... ideas?

Im sure proxys would be too happy if I downloaded a gig of stuff...

Well, http://cprox.netfirms.com is a list of free open cgi proxies, and most even allow you to download through them

I just captured all of the original Adventure to DV on my harddrive. Since it was filmed with, like, 3 or 4 different cameras of different qualities and the original master tape has been dubbed off of hundreds of times I think I should have a crack at restoring it. (it is an 8 year old tape)

I'm not altering the content or re-editing anything (though there's a lot of spots I wish I could) but simply making it LOOK better. The original FX will stay intact as well (even the Play-Doh dinosaur)

So this may take a few weeks (likely more) but that should give us time to think of/find an online home for the thing.

PoD supposedly has unlimited space and bandwidth, and I suppose I could give Ben the password to the account abbibi game me that I'm not using...
