Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Yeah they used a Sega CDX instead. The 32x can not operate on it's own as it lacks video out so it uses the Genesis' hardware to make up for that short coming. Also as a result of this you will have to either have a very big battery or a short play time because of the fact you'll be powering both systems.

by 'they' he means I did ;-) yea, it requires another battery pack but it works, and it plays in RGB! It's a pretty large setup and I only use it for long trips, but hey at least it IS portable :-P

is there a way te 32x could be played on a radica or do I have really high hopes?

also does the regular genesis carts it in the 32x port? Are they both 64 pin and such?

and segasonicfan the cdx is what you used right? I read somewhere that that system had some bugs in it? are these rumors justified?

CDX= no bugs. Works perfect on ALL 32X/Sega CD/Genesis/SMS games

Radica=very limited Genesis. Does not support SMS/32X/Sega CD add ons and doesn't even play a lot of Genesis games as it is...

Regular Genesis carts do work through a 32X (yes, 64 pin).

alright thanks for debunking all those nasty rumors

however i do find articles like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_CDX but your word of mouth holds more ground since you play tested all the games

Whould this be an advantage.disadvantage?

ok ok ok what is your battery life on your cdx normally?

is there a way to shorten the 32x board or at least relocate for a smoother add on? (I'm planning on a non-frankenstein method)

could I add batteries to the 32x board with a power input so that they add on in parrallel?

Anyone know if the 32x will work on a nomad? It would save me a lot of work if it does.

okay....

there is no practical way to shrink the 32X board. It is very compact with ICs and traces everywhere. You can cut a little bit of the rim of the board but that's about it...

battery life on my CDX depends on the battery I'm using. It consumes about 1.8amps at 7.2v.

32x will not work on a Nomad. Nomad does not work with any of the extra Sega add-ons.

alright could i take a CDX...
PLace a 32x PERMANATLY wired in parallel to the Genesis Cartrige Port and have it so that i could switch between the standard genesis(for battery life) and the 32x (for 32x games duh)

or would it be better to have the 32x as a seperate yet redesigned unit where i coiuld add it on to the Genesis cart at any time i wanted 32x games...however, i would design it so that it plugs into the cartrige AND The power supply in parallel with its own added battery(more amps you know).

Oh! what does the 32x do to the amps of the Genesis (might rethink my entire design)
