I shall Stab the world
Ok,
I was at Wally World today, i was to buy a thing i needed for 3D art; and X-acto Knife. I go up to the counter to purchase this item. i find out i have to be 18 to buy this item, along with super glue, and other items. the packaging on the knife says "10+"
WTF is wrong with the world

Too many lawyers. People and companies are worried that if a kid or teenager buys something like that and then either hurts themself or others, they might be held responcible.

I am a geek.
I got carded for RTV sealant there once. It was an emergency situation at 3AM and nothing else was open. I finally found someone else in the store to buy it for me. I was over 18 at the time but had no ID on me.
I really want to know what they thought I was going to do with it. I mean I run through the store a 3AM covered in grease to get some silicone from the automotive section. It should be relatively obvious I'm not using this for my sinister plot to overthrow the government and create a new world order.
I even had the called the manager. He didn't even have an answer as to why I couldn't buy it, but he still wouldn't sell it to me.

If anyone can get high off RTV i would be seriously suprised. I have been using it for years in non-ventilated areas and have never even been light headed.gamer2 wrote:Actually they think your going to inhale the stuff as a drug
Same with carb cleaner. I know people huff it, but I don't think it really gets them high. All I know is that stuff burns for hours if it gets up your nose, but I haven't had a buzz from it.

@ elliot: Wow... thats absolutley ridiculous.
If you want to cut somebody you don't need to buy anyhting. heck, a broken bottle would work in a pinch. they aren't stopping anybody. And the people who make/use stuff for drugs, they can get that stuff anyways somewhere else, it just slows them down a little bit.
It annoys the heck out of me when I have to go to menards instead of Wal-Mart to get spray paint. Menards will sell it to me no problem, so I asked Wal-Mart why they dont't. They told me it was because they chose to. It's not a law or anything, it's completely optional.
And then theres the time my dad went off his rocker when he had to prove that he was over 18 just to buy superglue. He made a scene in front of everyone jsut to get his point across that he shouldn't have to show his ID just to buy superglue. Its ridiculous.
Did you now they even limit cough syrup now! To that I say WTF.

Well i like to paintball in my spare time "or when i have then money"... i was in a pinch one time when i didnt make it to the local paintball store so i ran across the street to wally's world and found out i had to be 18 to buy the paint. When she said that i turned around and asked the guy behind me if he would buy it for me. He agreed and the cashier didnt say a thing. It still pissed me off though. What am i going to do with it. Its not like you can kill somebody with a few wax based paint filled gelatin capsule.

Really this just makes people look stupid with rulles like this. Paintballs could kill someone, if you hit them in the in the temple or the eye. A knife, you can buy other places, that know the majority of Americans are not homicidal killers.

Yeah walmart is being ridiculous about some things I had the same thing happen to me when I went to buy paint the other day but my mom was there so she bought it. I have a brass eagle maruader but Im getting a tippman a5.
@ elliot I wouldn't use any product especially carb cleaner in an unventilated area that just asking to harm yourself. I take auto mechanics at a tech school and beleive me you don't need to inhale anything if you can avoid it.
