Fried Screen

All was well until *gasp* I touched the PS One screen with a multimeter and it blew! I have Ben's book and there's a fuse to bypass. I'm afraid to because I don't want to fry it again with no fuse to back me up. Is there a way I can get a replacement fuse for my screen?

A replacement fuse? Not really. It's a small surface-mount component that you can't really swap out without some good soldering skills. Even then, good luck finding the right one at Digikey.

What exactly were you doing with your multimeter that fried it? Basically your only option is to bypass the fuse and be very careful with what you connect and don't.

I was just poking around the 5 V outputs that went to my SNES and it blew.

Was the item on, was the solder touching areas other than the other pins.

now i fried my snes (mini) and i found that the fuse was ultra small and surface mount. dont get ur luck up, i fixed it. all u need is a steady hand. get a fuse from a christmas light set. they are very small and will fit right on top of the original fuse. it will work just fine.

i havent seen the fuse on a ps1 screen but if its surface mount i believe it should be very similiar and the christmas tree fuse will work fine on top of the orginal fuse, be careful not to solder the fuse to any pcb parts near the fuse tho.
