im just starting my own N64 portable but im not very far. I've read some of the info provided but i want to know what I should do first. all ive done is open a controller. I can't get past the nintendo screws. How do I and how do i wire a controller.
the sticky's very useful. there's a sticky in the SNES section about screws. i have a partially finished partially accurate guide on my site but i'm making a new flawless one. i'll tell people when i'm done

min's 1997 and it works fine after tons of abuse 
. how you get started is get all the stuff you need, replace huge heatsink with smaller ones, LED mod the screen, wire everything together, and put it in a case. i'll have better instructions when my guide's done. here's the under-construction guide so far. i'll put "how to open the N64" on the first page, just havn't gotten around to doing it yet.
. how you get started is get all the stuff you need, replace huge heatsink with smaller ones, LED mod the screen, wire everything together, and put it in a case. i'll have better instructions when my guide's done. here's the under-construction guide so far. i'll put "how to open the N64" on the first page, just havn't gotten around to doing it yet.actually i just fried 2 N64s so i know exactly what to do and what not to do. you don't have to wear a grounding strap as long as you aren charged or anything (touch something grounded to make sure you're uncharged just in case). try to avoid banging stuff on the chips and stuff like that, even though N64s are pretty durable like that. what you need to be careful with is desoldering stuff. don't force off the power plug or those little bracket things that hold on the heatsink, no matter how hard it is to get all the solder off. also be careful not to overheat it when desoldering stuff. other than that it shouldn't fry easily
How do I know
How do I know if is fried? Is there any noise or smell?
if you can't get it to show any video it might be fried. if it still doesn't show any video after getting mad at it and yanking out the cart/jumper pack when it's on and abusing it and testing it again, it's most likely dead. if it still doesn't work after letting it sit for a few days, it's dead. i fixed mine the mad way, it actually worked 
Will I most likely fry a psone screen as well as an N64? Im gonna wear a anti-static band and I am working on a cement floor. But I can only spend around 200$ on this. I know I can get the screen for 50-60$ up here in Canada so I only want to have to buy one. And N64's are easy to get cheap from the bargain finder but what else will be expensive?
But would I be able to make one for about 200$?
