Which would be more efficient?

I have a 14.4v source, but I need to get 8-7ish for the PSone LCD. My question is would it be better to get a 7808 regulator, or to take 7.4v from one battery. It might sound like a stupid question, but heat is sort of an issue. That is why I was even considering using a single battery.

Build a switching regulator!
Anyway, drawing power from the amount of batteries needed for 7.4v is much better than wasting power through a 7808. The higher voltage you put through a 7808, the more is wasted as heat.

Well, you could also run the 2 batteries in parallel and get twice the run time.

Though it would be better not to have any regulators as they do waste power (in the form of heat)

meh id say go with a 7808 that way both the batteries drain at the same time, instead of one dying first.

I think your on to something.

Yes, I do need the 12v for something. Anyway, does a GC regulator give 7.5v, or enough to run a PSone screen?

nope GC PSU does not pump out 7.5

Well I went ahead and used a 7808. My project is finished now, and I'm testing battery life.
